A lot of people think the Egyptian Mau is the oldest cat breed but no one knows for sure. One thing we do know, however, is that it’s appearance has not significantly changed over three centuries and that it’s a natural spotted breed (most other spots have genetically been introduced through breeding).
This feline is odd because it doesn’t groom itself or rest/sleep a lot like most domesticated cats nor does it roar like typical big cats (tigers, cheetahs, etc.).
If your cat is sufficiently hydrated, they can withstand an external temperature of 133° F. To give you an idea of how extreme this is, humans can tolerate an external temperature of about 104° F, depending on their water intake and if shade is available but this is assuming the humidity level is not high (i.e. not above 70%).
The front paws claws are sharper than the rear paws because the front claws can retract and the rear cannot. Due to this, the rear claws become filed down after time.
Here is a short list of some ladies over the years who just loved cats:
Harriet Beecher Stowe
Marie Antoinette
Florence Nightingale
Emily Brontë (and her sisters Anne & Charlotte)
Vanna White
Martha Stewart
There are approximately 130,000 hairs per square inch on a cat.
