Neutering

Neutering your male cat can improve his quality and length of his life. Examples: he won’t pee/mark his territory (like the shoes in the corner of your closet that you know have been marked but have been too lazy to clean up) and he won’t try to establish dominance or get finicky with other male cats over those female cats in heat. Come on, this is seriously a win-win-win for all parties involved with your cat.

Spaying

If you spay a female cat before she starts to go into heat (or blossoms into a mature female cat), you can greatly reduce the risk of mammary cancer and uterine disease.

Please spay your cats! It could save their life!

Allergies

Most people think they are allergic to cat fur/dander or saliva or urine. However, they are actually allergic to a fatty substance excreted by cats called sebum. Males shed this allergen more than females but males that are neutered will excrete significantly less.

Toxoplasma gondii

Or Toxo for short, is the microbe that causes toxoplasmosis and is excreted in cat feces. Pregnant women and those with weak immune systems should not be near cat litter or any cat feces. Or any feces for that matter.
